About Us
Woven from the Mountains. Carried Across the World. Bridging ancient Himalayan and Tibetan artisanship with homes around the world — from the heart of Kullu, since 1999.
For over two decades, we have worked closely with weavers and craftspeople from across the Himalayan belt — preserving traditions that have clothed, adorned, and grounded communities for centuries.
Our Story
It began in 1999 — not with a business plan, but with a belief.
A belief that the weavers of Zanskar and Ladakh, the Tibetan craftspeople who carry centuries of Buddhist artistry in their hands, and the mountain communities whose looms hum through bitter winters deserved a wider audience. That their work — honest, handmade, and deeply rooted — was worth preserving and sharing.
From a single physical store in Kullu, we built relationships. With weavers. With craftspeople. With communities that had never sought the spotlight but whose work quietly told stories of mountains, monasteries, and mornings wrapped in wool.
Today, The Tribal Weaver exports to homes across Europe, carrying those stories far beyond the Himalayan foothills where they began.
What We Make
Our collection is divided into two worlds, each with its own soul.
Handloom — the warmth of the mountains, made wearable.
From the fine softness of Pashmina and Angora wool to the hardy warmth of Merino, our handloom range is a celebration of everything the Himalayan highlands produce. Kullu shawls in their bold, geometric patterns. Stoles light enough to drape, warm enough to rely on. Nehru jackets, mufflers, beanies, and socks — each piece woven by hand, designed to last, and carrying the texture of the land it came from.
Handicraft — the sacred, made tangible.
Tibet’s spiritual and artistic heritage runs deep in our handicraft collection. Singing bowls that hum with centuries of meditative tradition. Incense that carries the scent of monastery mornings. Ritual items, hand-crafted jewelry, Tibetan-style shirts, and home décor that brings the quiet dignity of Tibetan Buddhist culture into everyday spaces. These are not souvenirs. They are objects with intention — made slowly, by people who understand what they mean.

Kullu is more than our address — it is our anchor. Our physical store here is where customers have walked in for over 25 years, picked up a shawl, felt its weight, and understood immediately why handmade matters. It is where trust was first built, one conversation at a time.
The weavers and artisans we work with come from across the Himalayan belt — from the high cold deserts of Ladakh and Zanskar to the valleys shaped by Tibetan cultural heritage. Their techniques are old. Their materials are natural. And their craft, in an age of mass production, is quietly radical.
